Runners and walkers will have a scenic Cañon City event to look forward to in late summer 2026: the Wine Run 5K at The Winery is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 30, at The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey.
The event listing gives the venue address as 3011 U.S. 50, Cañon City, Colorado 81212. The listing shows event hours of 8 a.m. to noon, while participants will choose between two race start times—9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.—when they register.
A race through winery scenery
The annual event is promoted around the scenery and landscape of The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey. The winery is located on the grounds of Holy Cross Abbey, with the Wet Mountains described as a backdrop.
Participants can run or walk the timed and scored 5K. J3 Timing will handle the timing, and results will be posted online at J3Timing.com, according to the event information.
What registration includes
Registration includes a soft ring-spun cotton T-shirt, a shatterproof collapsible wine glass, a finisher medal that doubles as a wine stopper and a chip-timed race bib. Participants will also receive a pour of wine, according to the listing.
The event page says The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey has attracted visitors from Colorado and beyond since July 2002 while producing Colorado wine. Royal Gorge RIO is partnering with the winery as the nonprofit partner for the event.
Those interested can select their preferred start time during sign-up. The event page also provides a 5K course map and directs participants to register through the Royal Gorge RIO event listing.
