The 2A North 9th Street Project in Cañon City is entering its final construction phase, but motorists, pedestrians and nearby residents should continue to expect active work, temporary closures and construction equipment in the area.

According to a city update posted Oct. 8, final paving operations are scheduled to begin Friday, Oct. 9. The paving is expected to be finished Monday, Oct. 12.

What is scheduled next

After paving, crews are expected to install pavement markings during the week of Oct. 12. The remaining sections of sidewalk and curb ramps will also be constructed during that period.

The city said the project’s remaining work and site restoration are anticipated to be completed within the next couple of weeks. The full project is expected to be finished before the end of October.

Safety reminders near the work zone

While final construction activities continue, the city is asking everyone traveling near the project area to use caution. Drivers and pedestrians should follow posted signs and traffic-control measures, remain alert for crews and construction equipment, and observe any temporary closures.

The city also thanked residents and travelers for their patience and cooperation as the project moves toward completion. The update was published through the Cañon City News Flash system under “2A N 9th Street Project: October 8th Update.”
