Drivers and residents on four Cañon City streets should prepare for a one-day construction operation on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, when the city’s contractor begins the chip seal portion of the 2026 Street Resurfacing Project.
A-1 Chip Seal, the contractor for the city project, will work on South Street, Phay Avenue, South 1st Street and Wild Rose Drive. The city said signs have already been installed in advance to identify active work areas and locations where vehicles should not be parked.
What residents need to know
The chip seal work is expected to take approximately one day to complete. Residents and motorists should watch for the posted signs and avoid parking where construction crews are scheduled to work.
The notice was posted by the City of Cañon City on Sept. 24, 2026. It follows other city construction updates, including notices about Main Street construction and a Sept. 21 update on the North 9th Street project.
